Job Title:  Chemical Technician - Golf Club

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

Department:  Grounds

Position Summary:  To maintain the campus of Academy property on a day-to-day basis while assuming responsibility for the property’s maintenance.


Position Responsibilities

  • Responsible for application of various turf and ornamental chemicals and fertilizers
  • Maintains spraying/application equipment
  • Organization and cleanliness of areas where chemicals and fertilizers are kept
  • Completion of application records
  • Other essential tasks as assigned by the supervisor


Knowledge, Skills and Ability 

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
  • Proven experience in applying chemicals and fertilizer
  • Self-Starter
  • Ability to obtain Florida Pesticide RUP License within 90-days of employment
  • Ability to work outdoors 365 days a year
  • Ability to identify potential turf and ornamental problems (i.e. disease, weeds, insects)


Preferred Skills

  • Bilingual


Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to lift, move, push and pull equipment or boxes in excess of 40-70 lbs
  • Ability to work on various indoor and outdoor surfaces including grass, turf, courts, etc. in all weather
  • The department may require weekend and evening work
  • The employee will be working on a campus and will be required to move within the campus, both indoors and outdoors
  • The employee will be expected to be active throughout the majority of the day, and therefore requires high levels of energy
  • The employee will be bending, pushing, pulling and twisting throughout their regular work duties
  • The employee will be working on mechanical equipment throughout their regular work duties


Background Requirements

  • Applicants must be 18 or older
  • Requires a background check upon offer
  • Requires a drug check upon offer
