Job Title:  ESL Language Center Teacher

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

Department:  IMG Academics

Position Summary:  Core content curriculum implementation and lesson delivery in the classroom.


Position Responsibilities

  • participate in developing courses, programs and curriculum
  • assume responsibilities in developing courses, programs and curriculum
  • balance teaching assignment to maintain familiarity with all courses
  • follow goals and objectives provided by Academic Coordinator
  • develop syllabi for assigned courses following approved curriculum
  • demonstrate excellence in planning, presentation, and classroom management skills
  • develop appropriate materials, exercises and tests for assigned courses
  • demonstrate ability to adapt teaching techniques to situations required by the teaching assignment
  • attend meetings and provide input requested by business manager and Academic Coordinator
  • assess students' performance in an accurate and unbiased manner
  • keep students informed of their progress through Orbund for feedback and graded material
  • treat all students fairly and impartially, maintaining cultural sensitivity
  • use the equipment and resources of the IEP as effective tools for language learning
  • assist with testing and level placement as assigned each term
  • meet responsibilities and deadlines for recording attendance, grades, and other responses requested
  • evaluate materials and textbooks
  • attend department meetings
  • maintain at least five office hours per week for consultation with students and colleagues
  • maintain punctuality in starting and ending lessons
  • monitor student learning at all times in a class period
  • display courtesy and effectively interact with the community at both ULC and IMG Academy (including students and department colleagues)           
  • cooperate with colleagues by sharing ideas and materials willingly and by being accessible and dependable
  • consistently strive to grow professionally and to contribute to the profession
  • support and, as much as possible, participate in social, recreational and cultural activities scheduled for students
  • provide evaluations, recommendations and any other input requested regarding student performance



Knowledge, Skills and Ability 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant subject area
  • Minimum 2 years experience
  • Strong classroom management skills required
  • Highly organized; flexible in meeting the needs of boarding students and their families;
  • Technologically savvy
  • A superior work ethic
    • Desire to work collaboratively with colleagues
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple projects
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to interface with a variety of audiences
  • Ability to multi task in a fast-paced organization


Preferred Skills

  • Master’s degree in relevant subject area
  • Bilingual


Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to lift, move, push and pull equipment or boxes in excess of 40lbs.
  • Should be able to handle outdoor temperatures for a reasonable period of time.
  • Must be able to move around campus which includes gym, turf, fields, etc.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays is required
