    Job Title: Basketball Operations, Summer 2018

    FLSA Status:  Non Exempt

    Department:  Athletics, Basketball

    Position Summary:  Under general supervision, responsible for the day-to-day organization of the basketball program. Provide administrative services to the coaches, administrative staff, and student-athletes.


    Position Responsibilities

    Basketball Season

    • Lead the planning, operation, and execution of all home game competitions including set-up, tear down, hosting visiting teams and officials.
    • Organize travel logistics for all teams—including IMG transportation requests, hotel bookings, meal coordination, host team or tournament coordination, etc.
    • Work with program manager and coaches on game scheduling and changes throughout season.
    • Oversee gear and uniform distribution, and laundry inflow/outflow for all teams.
    • Ensure timely collection of expense reports from coaches and deliver to Program Manager for review and competition account tracking.
    • Manage equipment inventory and storage, minor facility upgrades, maintenance, and ordering.
    • Occasional team travel on away trips – serving as trip coordinator and assist with travel logistics.

    Summer Camp Season

    • Coordinate court scheduling on campus.
    • Oversee Basketball operations summer staff coordinating APD classes and VIA customers.
    • Ensure customers know where, when, and how to get to the correct classes.
    • Manage attendance procedures for all summer camps – including attendance tracking and updating.
    • Coordinate and update skills challenge awards, tracking, and leaderboards.
    • Begin Planning for Academy year – scheduling, special events logistics, etc.

    General Operations

    • Maintain accurate court scheduling  and conference room scheduling for basketball facility
    • Work with other campus departments looking to use gymnasium (Special Olympics, etc) and schedule facility according to Basketball program needs.
    • Assist coaching staff with outbound communications to college coaches on behalf of student-athlete recruiting
    • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethic codes
    • Other duties as assigned


    Knowledge, Skills and Ability 

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management, Business, or related field/experience
    • Experience in a collegiate sport specific program
    • Knowledge of high school athletics
    • Ability to work with diverse group of student-athletes, parents and staff
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Ability to understand budgeting principles
    • Understanding of video editing software
    • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
    • Ability to travel.
    • Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel and Word


    Preferred Skills

    • Valid Florida Driver’s License or the ability to get one
    • Bilingual


    Physical Demands and Work Environment

    • Ability to lift, move, push and pull equipment or boxes in excess of 40lbs.
    • Should be able to handle outdoor temperatures for a reasonable period of time.
    • Must be able to move around campus which includes gym, turf, fields, etc.
    • Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays is required
