    Job Title: Manager, Health & Safety

    FLSA Status:  Exempt

    Department:  Operations

    Position Summary:  This position will be responsible for creating, executing and overseeing the continued development of IMG Academy safety plans, policies and crisis management.  Oversight includes ongoing employee training, establishment and maintenance of health, safety and environmental programs and guidelines to ensure the highest possible degree of safety for employees and IMGA students.

    Training

     

    • Develop comprehensive health and safety programs identifying training priorities, target audiences, delivery methods and timing
    • Direct or assist in the development of specialized education and training materials
    • Conduct targeted health, safety and environmental training programs to communicate hazard control information
    • Conduct new employee occupational health, safety and environmental orientation
    • Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace, and develop/implement preventive measures
    • Lead annual weather emergency training for employees and students
    • Conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices
    • Counsel and advise management concerning applicable city, state, and federal compliance regulations
    • Schedule and implement bi-annual CPR training for employees

    Compliance

    • Review all injury and property damage reports involving IMGA employees
    • Liaise with corporate Risk Management to administer workers' compensation program for IMGA employees
    • Develop controls for identifying hazards, coordinate implementation of controls from hazard analysis, and measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies and procedures and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate work place accidents and injuries
    • Act as liaison for IMG Academy with all local emergency response personnel and agencies
    • Schedule and maintain fire, hurricane, tornado and other evacuation records
    • Coordinate and ensure OSHA training, maintenance and compliance for all departments
    • Compile, analyze, interpret and report accident, loss, and exposure statistical data;  prepare comprehensive recommendations for corrective action to eliminate or minimize potential hazards
    • Conduct monthly safety meetings with relevant departments and managers
    • Perform other related duties as directed that correspond to the overall function of this position

    Qualifications

    Knowledge, Skills and Ability 

    • Must have 5-10 years of experience working in roles of similar responsibility.
    • BA/BS degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Sciences, or related field
    • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as health and safety coordinator or manager for an operating company
    • Strong presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Ability to lead and direct teams and/or committees
    • Skilled in standards, concepts, practices, and procedures in the health, safety and environmental fields
    • Knowledge or training in occupational health, safety, and environmental compliance with applicable federal and state regulations and standards
    • Demonstrated experience delivering hands-on health, safety and environmental training
    • Ability to develop, implement and coordinate comprehensive health and safety accident prevention programs
    • Strong PC Skills in MS Office
    • Completion of Blood Borne Pathogen training
    • Completion of OSHA-required training
    • Knowledge of MSDS chemical safety and OSHA recordkeeping requirements
    • Knowledge of construction safety including inspection procedures, methods and practices; environmental health guidelines; and modern teaching and training methods
    • Desire to work collaboratively with colleagues
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

     

    Physical Demands and Work Environment

    • Must be available to be onsite during all emergency events and drills
    • Ability to lift, move, push and pull equipment or boxes in excess of 40lbs.
    • Ability to move easily over a 5-mile campus, both indoors and outdoors on a regular basis
    • Ability to lift, move, push and pull 40 pounds on a regular and consistent basis
    • Position requires walking most of the working day
    • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning and inspection tasks
    • Must be able to climb stairs on a continuous basis
    • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity
    • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment
    • Ability to work rotational schedules, including days, nights, weekends and holidays
    • Should be able to handle outdoor temperature for a reasonable period of time
    • Must be able to move around campus which includes gym, turf, fields, etc. 
    • Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays is required
